November 18th - UK
Dentist - !!!!! new crown. Then drive to watch Charlotte play Hockey . Cancelled...... over to Shelagh's to settle into base camp! - Thank you Shelagh!!!
November 17th - Fly to UK
Lazy morning - we had done all our sight seeing. Pack the bags and head off for a lunch in the Piazza. Then off the the airport - flight to Stanstead - drive to Hilary's - for a quick over night stay.
November16th - Vatican
Off to the Vatican. Amazing.
Toured the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel and Basilica (St Peter's).

Then we walked all the way up the steps to the top of the dome of the Basilica. What a view!
A crystal clear sunny late afternoon - highest building in Rome - we have been blessed with beautiful weather each day.
Back to out local Piazza for dinner that night.

November 15th 2015 - Pope's address and sightseeing
We walked over to hear the Pope's address at St Peter's (with about 50,000 other people).
After that we used up the rest of our Hop on Hop off tour and went to the Spangna (Spanish Steps) (which were closed for repaired). A round trip on the HOHO bus, past the Colosseum and Circus Maximus , which is 600 meters long/oval, used for chariot races (movie Ben Hur). During intermission, to rest the horses they would let the lions out and through a bunch of Christians in for entertainment, barbaric, and such an advanced culture.
More walking through the streets and alleys of trendy shops.
Then to the Pantheon, designed by Rafael, (the largest single dome building until 1970 when they built to New Orleans Super dome) - it was spectacular - dinner at restaurant nearby, where Jimmy had eaten 15 years ago. wandered slowly back to the apartment, seeing loads more flowers at the French Embassy

November 14th 2015 - Roma - French Atrocities; and Open Top Bus
We didn't wake up until 10.30 the next day, and so most of our jet lag was gone??
We were staying by the French Embassy. As we walked by that morning, we saw loads of police and military and hundreds of flowers on the ground in front of the Embassy - Jimmy asked someone what had happened....!!! We heard of the atrocities off the prior night
We decided to wander round Rome some more by foot and the Pizza place we saw yesterday, with a line out the door, was empty when we walked by - we went in to have the best pizza we had ever had - better than Brooklyn - funny they use sizzors to cut the pizza - not a pizza wheel.
More wandering in the alleys and street in Rome - every twist and turn was so fascinating. After passing by the Colosseum and Forum, we jumped on the hop On Hop Off bus for a comfortable audio tout of Roma.
We ate dinner in another beautiful Piazza with a huge fountain that was used for the Friends video.
Amazing marble sculptures everywhere. On our way back we bought a couple of trendy hats. And a relatively early night
On the way back we passed the French Ebmassy again. There were so many flowers and candles for the loved ones lost.

November 13th Friday - Arrive Roma and Colosseam
After a routine flight, we arrived in Rome on Friday 13th! Hours before the slaughter in Paris, but not knowing about it until the next day.
The taxi ride from the airport - there was a huge protest for something and so the taxi driver managed to find a way to rip us of!!
Arrived at the apartment, met Naterlie, dropped off our bags and went out to the nearest Piazza which was 2 blocks away. Had a nice lunch and went off exploring to stay awake.
We walked about a mile or 2 through the fascinating streets of Rome to the Colosseum where we did our our personal Audio guide tour - totally fascinating

We wandered around til it got dark and headed back to bed

November 12th 2015 - Leaving Bermuda
Thursday 12th Nov 2015
- Trip started BDA to Philly - with a 3 hour lay over - went to the Admiral's club and we got thrown out! - the woman let the 2 of us in with our coupon but when we left and she said good bye to us, for some reason, when we got to the other club closer to our flight, she told them not to let us in! so not such a great start.
Boarding the plane we could see it was a full flight but Judy figured out a way to get the only 4 seats available (PS she got 3!)
